For Rain Sultanov, music is always a matter close to his heart. But even for him, “Influence” was a very special project. On albums like “Mugham – Megham” and his comprehensive “Anthology of Jazz in Azerbaijan” the Baku born saxophonist followed the musical roots of his homeland. In his current solo album he seeks for traces of the more intimate kind. Each of the seven epic ballads owes to one of his creative influences. Some of them became companions. Some remained “virtual friends” forever. But all of them took him further in his development.
